About Sophie
It has been a great honour to represent our local community since 2019, a community that I have called home for over 30 years.
I am proud to be the first Cambodian female to represent in Victorian Local Government. I also served as the first Cambodian female Deputy Mayor in the 2020-21 and 2024-25 term and now serving as the first Cambodian female Mayor in the world.
In uncertain times, I continue to offer experience and dedication, and importantly, a proven record of delivering for our communities. This has included major upgrades to the Springvale Community Hub, Noble Park Aquatic Centre Wellbeing Gymnasium, Ross Reserve All Abilities Playground and disabled toilet facilities, Sports Pavillion, Streetscape Projects (Douglas Street/Leonard Avenue), Keysborough Community Hub and more.
Our priorities for 2026 include delivering our Council Plan and major projects, especially the new aquatic and wellbeing centre opening in 2027, as well as the continuation of Dandenong New Art Gallery (DNA). We also have the final stage of the Perry Road upgrade, and we’re looking ahead to significant road safety improvements on McCrae Street. I look forward to our ongoing work to enhance the Noble Park, Springvale and Dandenong Activity Centres, along with our regular upgrades of local roads, footpaths, lighting, playgrounds, reserves and sport facilities.
Our community has its challenges, but our diversity and determination are our strength. We are all part of a city that recognises and supports its vulnerable residents. Council will continue to work to support the physical and mental health and wellbeing of all our residents.
