The queer body is a site of constant interrogation and critique, often through both public and private gaze.
Through this live performance, the dancing body is framed by ‘iconic’ landscapes of the central Dandenong, bringing attention to how we read, police and codify the queer body in public. Specifically, the performance work playfully engages with the politics of body hair in public spaces.
Through costume, play and public space, this performance is at once ridiculous, somber, playful and poignant.
Gareth Hart has spent 25 years exploring complex relationships between the body and place - often resulting in striking, immersive and poignant performances in public spaces - including car parks, alleyways, warehouses, park and civic squares.
