September is National Biodiversity Month and the perfect time to explore the great outdoors in Greater Dandenong.
We invite our resident to join this year’s Biodiversity Blitz, helping to create a full picture of the life forms in our city.
Biodiversity is the variety of all life forms on earth and the ecosystems that are their homes. Greater Dandenong is home to a huge variety of plants, animals, microorganisms and ecosystems and we want your help to record them all.
Help us celebrate and record this variety by signing up to the annual Biodiversity Blitz. Take photographs of native flora and fauna and upload to the iNaturalist app or website during the month of September.
The Blitz contributes to important citizen science and creates real data that is used by scientists and researchers to helps plan for a future that better protects our environment.
The Blitz is also a friendly competition with neighbouring councils to see who can record the most species across the month.
How to get involved:
- Step 1 – Download the iNaturalist app from your favourite app store
- Step 2 – Register online to participate
- Step 3 – Get outdoors and start recording your observations, which will be added to the project and count towards Greater Dandenong’s tally.
